My slim straights came in today, a couple interesting points that I'm curious about. The slim taper whiskeyriver posted are made of a different fabric than the slim straight, which is the white line selvedge advertised. All the details on these jeans are well considered, and the fit on these is almost identical to my experience with the Flint & Tinder slim (the 33 SS in T&S is about identical to the 32 Slim in the F&T) and the inseam is most definitely longer than the tagged 33 (a bummer for no one but devastitis and a little bit for me). I'm not going to address the unsanforized thing until I've washed these once. If they come out as little boy pants, then I'll concede defeat, but it would truly be a surprise. The coin pocket is a strange thing. The opening on it is as small as it looks, and I'm able to get a finger into it, nothing more, and am not likely to use it. The stitching is straight as an arrow, the multicolored pocket bags and actual leather pocket tag are a nice touch, as is the leather pocket tag, and I think T&S should put whiskey's detail shots up on their site, as T&S's pictures definitely don't show off why these are worth a bigger price tag. These are good at the sale price, but from what I've read of Railcar, I don't know that I'd consider these worthy of the same pricepoint. At the F&T price-point, however, I'd go with these over F&T any day of the week. Whiskey if you can take some shots of that shirt you got it'd be much appreciated. Thanks for pointing these guys out.

I can deal with up to 34" inseam. Then it gets goofy (triple cuffing does not look bueno).

I got the 33 slim straight, there was talk of sizing up but I didn't end up getting the 34. Having them in hand, I'm glad the request to size up wasn't honored. Unless I'm wrong and they shrink into wee-man pants, but I think a cold wash is going to leave them right where I want them.

I had really hoped I could pick up a pair of these (straights), but unfortunately Alan was out of the 31x34's. I really liked the aesthetics on these.

So I'm finally getting around to soaking my T&S (UNSANFORDIZED! ) jeans, and not only is there an indigo bleed, but also a light tea-colored bleed as well. Interesting. The weft is definitely brown-ish/beige-ish on this pair of denim, so possibly from that?? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Starch.

whiskeyriver you might have posted this already but did you take presoak measurements?

whiskeyriver you might have posted this already but did you take presoak measurements? Yes. This was for size 36. They were exactly to spec of the size 38 listed on their site, except the leg opening was 8.25" and the inseam was 36". Waist: 38" Front Rise: 12.75 Back Rise: 15.75 Thigh: 12.75 Knee: 9.25 Leg Opening: 8.25" Inseam: 36"

Yeah, it's definitely an old-school style cut.

I'm curious to see if exophobe slim straights are unsanforized as well.

I'm curious to see if exophobe slim straights are unsanforized as well. They're identical in surface appearance to all sanforized indigo denim I've ever received, and when I asked if they were unsanforized I was told "yes, they're raw denim". Unless there is no discernible difference between sanforized and unsanforized denim, I'd be truly surprised to find out these are unsanforized.

This is why I typically have only purchased sanforized denim, because I dislike the idea of having to guess on sizing when you factor in shrinkage.

Have I really gotten that fat?!. I mean really 44" chest is an XL on these Shirts? I'd need a 46". I get that a lot of Japanese brands make the small stuff for those guys but isn't this an American made co.?

Weird. Alan told me it's all unsanfordized. I'm confused at this point. Mine definitely felt and looked unsanfordized when I got them, and they shrunk a substantial amount in a soak...so mine certainly behaved like unsanfordized.
Mine have been starched and have dried overnight and are ready to wear. Woo hoo.

But I wonder if there's a vast difference in shrinkage when doing a cold soak vs hot soak? this is where i'm confused. I told him i'd likely do a cold soak and he said if that's the case then go with your usual size. I think the assumption is that with unsanforized most people will do a hot soak to maximize shrinkage.

You can very the degree of shrink depending on a hot or cold soak. Also if you throw them in the dryer you can get even more shrink.

Flint & Tinder claims all of their denim is unsanforized, I think there's a common mistake that raw = unsanforized.
