didn't think it made sense to create a new thread for specific Kickstarter companies until they spread their wings but mods, please edit if you feel otherwise.
GENEVA Found this on /r and not sure what to think of it. $89 to earlybird back a pair of activewear denim sourced from Cone. Activewear denim!!! Long gone are the days of us filling our back pockets with coal - let's get modernized!

Do we know what kind of Cone it is? Is it available elsewhere?

Their fabric is kind of the opposite of selvedge owners looking for evo and cool fades. Stretchy almost jeggings like but not so tight. Not my cup of tea but to each their own. The rise seems kind of strange. For my size would be 9.5 front and 15.25 back They call it midrise but is more of a low rise front and high rise back. Who knows maybe with the stretchy fabric it works.

LD&Co has officially soured me on kickstarter driven clothing companies, Gustin being the one and only exception that i'll still buy from.

Ciano is killing it, though I don't remember if his kickstarter was successful. But I think CF was already an established brand before kick starter came along. Didn't CF used to put out those atrocious jorts not so long ago? You know, those baggie jorts that skaters and juggalos wore?

I don't think anyone thinks of Gustin as a KS co. anymore. I agree I'm turned off on KS . I think the debate could be on "Crowd Sourcing". The bad part about KS is that one company doing an atrocious job puts people off of other people doing a great job on Kickstarter. I've backed quite a few campaigns, and have about a 3% miss rate, and only one of those has failed to deliver to date. It can be really frustrating and most projects will show up late, but that's usually less than three months. The issues at Lawless have nothing to do with Kickstarter and everything to do with Lawless, as they're having the same issues regardless of how they come about the funding. There are a lot of people doing very cool things, in a very honest fashion, and in comes cases this is as close to "farm-to-table" as product design can get, and is a very cool thing to support. The general rules of "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" very directly apply in the world of Kickstarter. Based on my experiences, I will in general avoid anything electronic or technologically complicated, however there are even companies that do that well. It really all comes down to the experience and dedication of those involved to ensuring they are good to their name, and unfortunately this means more to some people than to others. It is definitely a risk that the consumer shoulders, though, as there are very few protections in place on the platform in general. Though when I see projects get shut down on Kickstarter show up on Indigogo, it lends a bit of distrust to those other platforms.

exophobe I guess I shouldn't say turned off, speaking for myself, I see no need for it. I'm not sure if the price to wait ratio is worth it. 2 or 3 months for a crowd sourced item from an established co. Sure.

I'd be interested if this was basically a denim version of the Outlier slim dungaree. I dig those pants, but the completely synthetic material can get real static-laden in the winter.

What CF, and, for the most part, Gustin does well, is setting a limit for how much product can be produced, and keeping to pretty steady timelines. LD doesn't keep track of any inventory. They just accept every order on any product regardless if it can be fulfilled or not, and misappropriated funds to two factories, rather than fulfilling said orders.

Ciano made jeans for years before this. They were more Jersey Shore style. Honestly they were horrible.

Man the first Kickstarter for Ciano was some horrible stuff. The rear pockets are hideous. The shirts and hats are horrible too the shirts remind me of denim and supply.

You say that, but everytime I am out at a bar or something, I see a bunch of bros running around in their fashion jeans with the giant white rope stitching. Ugly, perhaps, but certainly still working in some circles.

The stuff that Ciano was making a few years ago, surely wasn't anything I'd be interested in owning, but I am impressed in how they took their skills, changed gears, and moved into making what they are today. He has been a pleasure to work with for me, and I will be wearing the stuff I have purchased from him for many years to come.
