I hope the rancourt IG post will prompt another email with more info from G. When I contacted them about the 'made in Italy' they said there would be information coming about how they sourced production. So there better be more information before Monday's drop.

Footwear production email hit my inbox. Lots of pictures, some details about the construction. It's still an easy pass for me, those aren't my style of shoe at all.

I just read the email. Lots of details and pictures. I think for most people it will Ultimately come down to the price.

Depending on price. The white ones have my attention. I'll probably pass the first go around until reviews and sizing are done.

MADE IN ITALY Pretty generic looking. Lots of verbiage so you know they're expensive. Pass. We've all seen the made in Italy labeling in the initial promotional pictures and knew with almost complete certainty that Gustin was no longer "always made in America", but somehow reading the announcement seems sad regardless. Especially with Rancourt showing that it's completely possible to make that style of sneaker here. So I'm going to go ahead and bring these guys out again:

"As of today, we found no USA options that can keep pace with the quality and variety we demand."
This has me hoping Rancourt's new releases forces them to eat a little crow.

I'd say Rancourt has pretty obviously put the lie to G's comments. Now the price point is even more interesting as compared to what Rancourt is offering.

The rancourt offering is very limited, and they may have told Gustin no. If the Gustin shoes come in at the same price point, though, I'd sooner buy rancourt if they start offering some colors, or in my case if they just expand their Essex line to include a sneaker. Gustin has already shown more styles and colors than the initial rancourt offering. We'll see what the release looks like tomorrow, though.

With the rancourt price and being made in USA I think it needs to hit $150 to be a real option.

I'm less concerned about where they are made, and more concerned with the price point. If they can't beat the price point of greatsbrand, what's the point? I can get a pair of their their Royales within days. Granted, if these are all horween then that changes things.

+1 It'll all depend on the price point for me. My guess is that they'll be around $175 if not more.

I haven't read the email but I was surprised to see references to G's supposed transparency on its Instagram account, given the fact that G is the least transparent apparel company I have come across. Perhaps additional details and pictures will added to the jeans, etc...

Made outside of USA = zero interest from me (regardless of price or size.). There are TONS of options out there for imported footware. I'm quite disappointed with Gustin's choice on this. I'm hoping it isn't an initial step to doing something similar on their other apparel lines.

I would rather have rancourts made in America shoes. Seems made in the USA is no longer Gustin's main draw along with low prices.

Well, we KNEW that they were not going to be made in the USA since they dodged that over and over. Disappointed, but as you say, there are so many shoes that look like those, and some are made in the US. Nothing there aside from being "Gustin" that is really a selling point...

It's all about price now. Price and variety, the latter being the only real draw G could count on as a brand.
