Especially when folks like Alex Mill are busy bringing manufacturing back to the US.

I guess I'm the only who likes wearing short sleeve henleys lol, but didn't see anything in the collection I liked. The bay area is entering its first real hot summer in a while and I don't see how these pieces fit in. Expected to see linen or something breathable like those gustin chino shorts redesign.

I wasn't fond of paying premium domestic prices for Chinese apparel, are they abandoning the j crew factories?

They have some overdyed oxfords and most of their t's are US made. Some jackets and pants too. It's a little hard to sort out which are, as they don't call attention to it. But China and USA look pretty different on the tag, even when blurry.

I would advise folks to share your displeasure with TS/MiC by emailing the founders: founders@taylorstitch.com I'll show my displeasure by not supporting their company. I have a feeling that if I were to email them about it they'd drum up some mass email response along the lines of, "we're sorry to hear you're unsatisfied with our company. We're working hard to improve our logistical chain, blah, blah, blah." Talk about biting the hand that feeds you

We're working hard to improve our logistical chain, blah, blah, blah." Talk about biting the hand that feeds you I agree with this. I buy some of their MiUSA stuff and don't buy the rest. I one star the Portugal/Spain/China stuff on surveys and rate the MiUSA stuff four stars if I don't really plan on buying it and five if I do. If they don't understand that building a successful company largely on MiUSA clothing and then slowly sliding towards MiSomewhereElse isn't going to sit well with some folks, then I don't feel the need to spell it out for them. And ultimately, they'll just point to the massive success of Proper Cloth and the failure of Flint & Tinder, Epaulet, etc and laugh all the way to the bank.

Do you think they do any analytics to see which products (MiUSA vs. MiP or elsewhere) are being sold? Are we (again) just a vocal minority? Or are we just the group that helps fund small start-up companies? It appears the scaling model is to outsource work to increase production and reduce costs.
I only consider the California paid options. Of course, they could eventually just sew on the tag in California and we wouldn't know any better...(just saying).

Maybe I've mentioned this, but they threw a Made in Portugal on one of my shirts that was supposed to be Made in California. I think they did it on purpose. Doesn't help that it's probably my best fitting and best made TS shirt. It's not lost on me that we might be the ones doing it wrong.

Was reading something yesterday about the patents Amazon owns on MTO clothing. They are probably going to put body scanners in their stores then let you tweak your garment. (speculation on my part) But this working so hard to get something to fit AND paying through the nose for it sucks, and I'm not happy about it. The fit just has to be good and looking through my closet I have probably 7 TS shirts and they all fit well. I don't know, it just feels too difficult sometimes wading through all this trying to have it all - good fit, reasonable price, MiUSA. I still think G has a great opportunity here if they would only offer more than just button downs and put a little more effort into their fabric and their QC.

My guess is we are a vocal minority, because if our opinion mattered they wouldn't be outsourcing production on some of their stuff. My opinion certainly matters very little because I only own 2 TS pieces, one pair of denim which I got on Fleabay (that I never wear) and the waxed long haul jacket. I do like some of what they offer, especially their casual shirting, but the whole Portugal thing has really put me off. I think it's the principle of it all. As a company TS was probably faced with a few choices, either grow their company which means outsourcing production to countries that can handle larger volume orders, or keep it local and possibly raise prices. Their business model likey doesn't allow for much wiggle room when it comes to meeting minimums with domestic manufacturers. I get all that, but don't feed me the, "proudly made in California," crap when you've clearly started doing the opposite. Reminds me of Filson in some ways -- a portion of their stuff is made in the US and the other portion made overseas.

I know this does not make it any easier but I already watched Carhartt and Red Wing do the same. It sucks. And factories having the volume capacity and bodies available to do MiUSA sewing seems to be a big issue. The middle ground does seem to be Portugal. And yeah, I wish TS was paying me for this but they are not. ANd I SHOULD send the founders an email because I am getting bored with bringing up some of these things with their CS rep on SF. I think my new hobby should really be yelling at clouds.
