Store credit would mean you're keeping your money with them. Refund is the only other option to taking a replacement. And yeah, Rex was hilarious. Because we would rather be open about things than not. rex deleted his account of his own accord. He had had some complaints about some of his posts and we talked to him about it. Not even an official warning. We think he over reacted, but it is his choice. It's all Good. I told him to come back with an alter ego Mex. we'll see

Plus, I'm sure it won't age well. After several washes I have a feeling it will look like crap Absolutely and without doubt. Another reason why the 'fix' was so snide.

The more of these depressing tales we hear about in relation to these small KS companies, the more appealing the likes of IH from Rakuten is.
It's almost a novelty now to get exactly what you ordered, first time and within the expected timescale. For that, I don't mind paying more.

I wonder if the business model of these companies is simply not viable, or if these particular two companies have simply implemented the model badly. Are there any examples of companies doing this 'back-it-make-it' thing well?

G seems to be doing not so bad, despite the quality issues of their shirts, out of spec jeans and delays on chinos, but they don't do customisation. LD's undoing was far too much customisation, unfeasibly low prices and not enough production staff, and we've yet to hear who oatwilly's culprits are. I have a better feeling about sjcforum.com/ as he's well known on TFL as an ordinary poster and seems to have a sensible and manageable business model, but he still has time to cock it up once he hits a full order book.

Cool. Thanks for the pointer. I'll look at their 21 oz offering. It looks good. An aside - their jeans description reminds me of how ridiculous this denim hobby can be. They say "I wanted to capture that mercantile stack of denim that would be handed out with a matching jacket to workers or prisoners in the 40's." So here we are, spending hundreds of dollars on custom denim so that you we can look like a prisoner from the 1940s. A guy on the IH forum, or maybe it was SuFu, made a similar comment to mine. Something like "spending hundreds of dollars to dress up like manual laborers from the 1930s and 40s". Not a criticism. Just a reflection on the hobby. Also, my totally custom hand made clothing is later than I expected it to arrive. First World Problems.

Oddly, the guys that got the lightest "talks" are the ones that took their toys and ran off. Nobody got banned - well, one did. This has happened in every forum I've been part of - many guys will come back later, some not.
If you're going to post in a manner that sets you apart from the crowd (which is fine) then you should expect to polarize the community. These guys all had supporters and detractors.
As long as the rules are followed, we honestly don't care about someone's style, per se. If ya want to leave, that's fine too.

It was sadistically entertaining to see what @wils did to his G workshirts.

Having that boot in your avatar and giving someone a gentle heading check is like having the town sheriff politely explain why you need to quiet down or leave the saloon, as he gently rests his thumb on his .45 Peacemaker Rex was cool. I think he'll come back sometime.

Did we ever find out what company did this? I had totally forgotten about this. It's pretty classy of oatwilly to not call them out here, although precious little detective work will give you your answer.

Still haven't reached a resolution with the maker. They were quick to offer to remake the jeans which was great and kudos to them for that. However, that was back in March and am still waiting. Contacted them 2 weeks ago and got a quick reply that they had run out of the fabric and were waiting for more. I replied to that email with an alternate fabric choice from the list of available fabrics on their site. Did not hear back with an "OK" or confirmation , but I'm assuming they got right to work on my jeans? I'm having flashbacks of my nightmare dealings with Lawless
