What the hell?! Are they made by virgins out of kittens? They'd better purr when I pet them.
I feel like the time I ended up in Zurich and realized my ham sandwich was $40.

Wow... it has even more "buttery" item descriptions than Gustin. Btw, Japan is just another country in this world that makes stuff. The last time I checked that Japanese hands are very much like everyone else and everything they touch doesn't immediately turned into something worth $500 more.

Well, if they didn't have the 98% leather sneaker market cornered with this thing, I'd point to other shoes that are similar at lower price-points. Wish someone else would take this idea and put it around something that makes sense, like 200 or so, but hell, there are lots of rich people and they're probably going to sell all of these anyway. If Nike can make shoes in Vietnam and sell them for $400, I don't think these guys are too far out of line.

I knew people who dropped $800+ for a pair of sneaker. However, those sneaker normally associated to some high fashion brand (YSL, MMM, RO) or limited edition. I just don't see anything out of this pair of sneaker.....

Surprised I haven't seen anything here about the Jack Purcell Signature. Some people appreciate it, but I definitely see many online comments complaining about the price. The difference between JP Sig's vs JP's in material & finish quality (as well as overall comfort) should be as significant as that between CT70's and plain CT's. I'm also really stuck on the new JP Woven, it's like a less-odd / more-classic spin on the Mayfly Woven's look. FWIW, the Mayfly Woven has a horribly uncomfortable sole; which is sad since the shoe itself is amazingly light, breathable, airy and eye-catching.
I'm still stuck on my Y-3 Yohji Boosts for daily comfort. Too bad all the new S/S15 releases are patterned and busy; couldn't bring myself to pick any of them up.

I checked out the Jack Purcell signature line. Kinda BS. Nike butchers the JP's last year, releases a new better version that brings the JP back to where it should be but charges a Premium over the normal line. Kinda crap. They couldn't just release a good shoe to start.

I'm actually only familiar with the premium JP's so I cannot say I could really compare the JP Signature to the normal run of the mill JP. Did you check them out in person, or are you're just judging by the pictures online? Just curious. I never thought much of Converse til my friend started showing me more of the premium offerings (he works for the company) and I got pretty hooked. Like I said about the Chucks, there's a big difference in the material / finish / comfort / feel of the CT70 versus the normal CT Ox or CT All Star. I'll be surprised if there's not a notable difference between the JP and JP Signature on foot. (I don't work for Converse and have no Converse stock, I promise!)

The 2014 revamped line of JP was kinda weak. Scored a pair cheap at nordstrom. The really skimped in construction last year. The signature line addresses these issues but raised the price.
Basically instead of doing it right the first time for a good price $69ish they did it cheap, got harshly critiqued for it and they come out with a signature line but charge $30 more.

Just ordered a pair of these... got a steal, £105 ($156) down to £60 ($89). Should work really well with indigo raws.

I've got my eye on a pair of Made in USA NB 996. Any recommendations on sizing up/down. My brannock size is 11.5 H. I usually wear a 12 in Adidas (superstars), 11.5 PF Flyers, 11 Chucks. I'm leaning toward the 11.5.

Thanks, julian. I thought that may be the case. With so little info on Google, I figured if no one was talking about it, it must not be much of an issue. I nabbed a pair of M996BA They were a fall/2013 release. Inventories are drying up. So, I decided I'd get my 1st pair of NB, in more than 20 years (had a pair when they weren't so "cool"), before my size disappeared. Not to mention, the price was right. I love the versatility I'll get from them(black goes with about anything). Funny you mentioned the M996DOL. I was considering them, as well. They are now #1 on the covet list. The M997PR are a close 2nd. But, 1 thing at a time.

I nabbed a pair of M996BA Nice. The blue pops really well on those. The M997PR are still my favourite NB release, although I'm seriously tempted by the ML997 DBR

I agree with crabrangoon here regarding the Chuck Taylor All Star 70's. I was EXTREMELY impressed when I bought my first pair. I was initially skeptical and was thinking that there would be a few minor improvements over the normal Chucks but literally every part of the shoe is improved with better materials and craftsmanship. The canvas and the laces both appear to be about twice as thick as the regular Chucks, the eyelets are higher quality, the soles are 100 times better and these things are actually comfortable. Everything about the shoe is an improvement over regular Chucks and I will definitely be buying more. I definitely recommend dropping the extra coin to get these over the normal Chucks. Once you get a pair you will look at normal Chucks and see how cheaply made they are.

Chucks feel like shoes I could make with cardboard, a few old newspapers, a deep sea fish hook, a machete and some yarn. 70's feel like real shoes. I'll never make the mistake of buying regular Chucks again.

Jcrew sells the 70's converse. Might have to check them out instead of the new JP signature line.

I received my Made in USA NB M996BA, a couple of days ago. I can only say.....I'm sold ! Out of the box, they are as comfortable as slippers. I will be pulling the trigger on another pair, sooner than later. Down the leg of my ST -120X
