I thought it would be fun to have a thread were we can post up pics of new leather items we get (wallets, belts, key loops, jean patches, boots whatever) when they are new and follow-up a few months down that road and show off how it's evolving. Also post up any pics of leather with some great patina on it. I've got several pics laying around, so I'll start off. This is a new wallet I just got from blackyrock, Hermann Oak vegtan. First pic is raw as it was brand new, and the second is after one application of Obenauf's leather oil that I immediately applied. These are two items I got from Davis Leatherworks. They are both made from Horween Essex leather. It's an amazing leather with a rich color and soft feel. The cigar lighter/cutter case was completely custom. He made a similar item as a fieldnotes cover, but I gave him the custom dimensions for my lighter/cutter case. The pics show how the leather looks new. The second item is one of his creations, a simple wallet. I carried this everyday for about 9 months. You can see the patina and the indigo picked up from my jeans. The last item I wanted to share with you is a Hermann Oak vegtan belt that I got from Gfeller Casemakers. It's about 6 years old and has been worn daily over the last 3. It was given a rub down with neatsfoot oil when it was new and again about a year ago.

beautiful belt, univibe88. Here is my Gustin cardholder. About 6-8 months old I think. Not as beautiful as the items you put up but interesting aging anyway. I've got some other cool stuff around here but no pics yet...

Thanks @stevekas that belt is one of my prized possessions.
I love the indigo ruboff and the contrast from the area shielded by your credit card. The Gustin logo looks really cool also.

Brand new to advanced Wabi Sabi in 3 months. So, my son is 14, into BMX and skating and is my unofficial belt tester. He asked me a while back to him a "dark red" strap for one of his favorite buckles. I obliged and he went to work killing the thing within a few months. The kid manages to wear his jeans both skinny and sagged in the ass (I don't understand) so the back of his belt and the belt loops on his jeans get sanded, ripped and shredded all the time. The Cannibal Corpse buckle is also depositing metal into the leather. The kid crocks metal. How metal is that? Enjoy.

I have to give your son props for sporting a Cannibal Corpse buckle. I used to listen to them back in the early death metal days and saw them live once or twice. Good times. Now at the ripe old age of 43 I've toned down my music choices, but I still likes me some metal

Now at the ripe old age of 43 I've toned down my music choices, but I still likes me some metal We are contemporaries. I started going to punk shows in the mid '80s after being a metalhead early teen. I got hassled for going to shows with long hair but earned respect after a while and things were good. Then thrash..speed...death metal...(insert favorite genres)core evolved and all of a sudden the whole scene exploded. Good times. I'm 45 and I've chilled out too but sometimes, when the mood hits, I get in the car alone and put the hurt on my ears. At the gym there is always something very heavy on the ipod rotation. My son laughs at me because listen to everything these days and he cannot compute. I love music. When he showed up with that buckle I was sentimental, proud and also scared at the same time lol.

thought i'd post a couple quick shots of my marshdown goods natty veg tan belt and key hanger. the key hanger is ~6 months old and the belt is ~4 months old. the sides of each are quite indigo stained (as is the back side of the belt) i've really enjoyed having both products.

If they ever sell them again, I want another. I never check the web store anymore though. This, and the IxI workshirt I would buy them both again

This, and the IxI workshirt I would buy them both again I'll keep my eye open for it, my heavyweight brown is my favorite belt and just about the only one I wear. Heavyweight natural gets used for non-indigo since I don't want my belts dyeing my pants.

Can't tell if you realize it by the wording of your post, but this is (Was, lol) the heavyweight natural. Yeah, I thought I remembered that. My natural didn't come in at the same thickness as yours, though my brown did. Either way I'll let you know if I notice either heavyweight pop up. It is remarkable how much your natural looks like my brown, though.

Double post! This bag is HEAVY. I'm hoping that once the leather softens up it'll drape better and not kill my shoulder like it currently is. Either that or I juts need to man up.
