Had this jacket made custom to my specs. The girl who did this for me has a studio in NYC where you can choose the style, fabric and anything else you want for your own custom piece. She will measure you and show you fabric to choose from or source what you want. I chose a non selvedge denim for the lapel and requested some large pockets to be added to give it a cardigan type look with a heavy linen for the body. Total cost was $425. You can pretty much do whatever you want with price going higher as you go. I have since soaked mine so the fit is pretty great now. I will get some fit pics up shortly Here is her site. You will see my Noragi a bit down on the right. She also made a Noragi which went viral on Tumblr for this guy Tommy Ton who has quite the following www.thekimonokid.com/customkimonos/

Nothing against you personally, Sal, but as a half-Japanese person who spent most of my youth living in Japan I can say it's a strange choice of clothing. Reminds me of something my 90+ yo Japanese grandmother would wear, who for all intents and purposes is a Japanese farmer.

Its just something I have always wanted since I found a few vintage pieces from the 1800's to early 1900's. The vintage pieces are amazingly beautiful which I am sure you have seen. I thought I would begin my own journey in a piece I would have made myself

Fair enough. Sorry if my comment sounded rude. It kinda threw me off a bit because I very rarely see people in the West show an appreciation for Japanese clothing

It kinda threw me off a bit because I very rarely see people in the West show an appreciation for Japanese clothing Oh you have no idea how much I am into the Vintage pieces. I have boro fabrics I buy just for patching my denim or to just look at. I am into it as much as I am into denim really but its super expensive to get involved in. A small 12 by 14 inch piece of fabric cost $20 to $30 depending on what you are buying. Anyway the thought was to have mine look like this after some wear. It will eventually loosen up and drape like this Visvim rendition. Over time the Linen will begin to break down and thats when I plan to have some fun with it and start doing a bit of Sashiko and boro patch repairing. So looking forward to the future in this thing

So, ah, what's going on with those shoes? those are called geta...i've only seen them worn with more traditional dress, i think the intention is to keep long robes/kimonos from touching the ground/snow/dirt/etc.

Probably should start drinking to celebrate.

I couldn't see myself ever wearing that. If we are comparing clothing from japan to USA. That is the equivalent of overalls. I am not goig to wear either.

However, I don't think I can. I wear some pretty strange stuff. I wouldn't call myself a guy who follows any one style but mixes it up so much that one day i'll be in a metro outfit, the next I am in a flannel or something like this. I recently gave away to friends and family 8 lawn sized garbage bags full goodies. Most of it nobody wanted lol. My IH-33 & my Samurai 710 were not even looked at by the way. Anyway I gave it all to good will. I like the thought of some denim savvy guy finding my stuff on some rack in a 2nd hand store.

Sometimes, she was able to get close or even more than what I paid for those items. The best she had done on eBay was my two pairs of 1947 prewashed LVC's, multiple Versace shirts/jacket (late 90's seasons), some Yohji shirts (late 80's and early 90's seasons), 2 pairs of totally worn Red Wing boots and a bunch of Polo Ralph Lauren polos/shirts. It was amusing on how many people wants things from those brands.

Iv grabbed some amazing jems off ebay including the Whites I once owned. I also bought a pair of Trickers and 1000 miles and my OST Trenches for damn good prices. I am your demographic lol

I can't handle the kimonos, but I desperately wish someone was using those traditional fabrics to make more modern clothing, though, and would probably sign up to help whoever does it if they need it.

kiriko is close to doing that. much of what they're selling is vintage or vintage inspired but they are doing more modern pieces too.

The Hillside Kapital Visvim (Very expensive) Blue Blue Japan Rulezpeeps Evan Kinori (love his stuff) These Japanese fabrics when used will typically have high price tags because of how unique some of it is. The designers that use it know this and charge accordingly. I buy 12X18 (sometimes a bit larger or smaller) piece of Japanese indigo dyed cotton for $25to $30.
