What type and brand of blank tees do you guys wear? I'm personally a fan of soft ringspun cotton tees and have a few shirts by a company called Royal Apparel. I have a couple of their 50/50 blend recycled tees, an organic tee, a union made tee and a bamboo blend tee. All are US made, super comfortable and fit great. i normally wear a large for tees but size up to an xl for ringspun - after they're washed they fit perfectly. I Dislike tees with really short sleeves and found these shirts to be the perfect length.

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering what you think is the best T-shirt out there.
Here are a couple of parameters:
No Logo or stuff all over it.
Crew neck
Shorter length (25" or so to go untucked with a leather jacket)
Good quality (not an undershirt)
Comes in black
Not outrageously priced.
What have you got to suggest?

Just got a new Eddie Bauer long sleeve black slim fit in the mail. I had a $5 credit from www.eddiebauerfriends.com/ A money back program. They do have a small logo on the bottom but it looks fine to me. I see they have some t-shirts on clearance 14.99-17.99 You can do returns to a store also if there is one in your area. |

I get my blanks from www.royalapparel.net . They're US made, they offer organics, blends, Union made, bamboo, etc. Super comfortable, affordable and the fit is spot on for me. For reference, I'm 5'11, 180 lbs and size up to an xl for their organics, bamboos and blends. My understanding is their tees aren't pre-shrunk so there will be approximately 5-7% shrinkage when washed. So basically, my size xl's shrink to a size large. The Gustin tee campaign makes me scratch my head because it's for t-shirts, which are not unique. So the idea of waiting 2 months for an organic US made shirt is laughable considering the other options out there |

Icksey, I've got bamboo long sleeve "t's" that I wear in the cooler months under my shirts, before jacket weather hits. They're great, but I like cotton for my T's. It's a more slippery fabric. And it's nice when it's hot out. Maintains shape better too than 100% cotton. All personal, but it's nice. |

Yep, I have that one, the 5051 organic and a few of their recycled blend tees. The bamboo is super soft just like a lot of ringspun cottons, the only downside being the price. But, their other tees are also very soft. The idea behind bamboo is that it's more sustainable than traditional cotton tees, hence the cost. I would say if you like your shirts fitted then go with your normal size. I sized up to account for shrinkage. I should note too that I also own one of their union made tees and those are cut ridiculously large. I sized up on the union made and it was still huge, even after washing. I guess the thought is that union workers are bigger boned  But I'll post a fit pic when I have more time |

Hanes Beefy are my go to plain tees. Their Small fit works perfectly on me as an undershirt and the Medium works as an outer shirt. As many colours as you could realistically want, 215 GSM ring-spun cotton and no annoying tag in the neck area.
And they're cheaper than a pint.

Beefy T's have always been my go to ($3 ea), but they are a bit too long to wear untucked with my jacket. Still have a dresser full for playing with the pets and kids though :-)

 pardon the man-boobs but here's a fit pic of my Royal Apparel bamboo blend tee in navy blue (70% bamboob/30% cotton). I like my tees to be slightly loose fitting so I ordered an XL instead of a L like I usually do with other brands. I probably could've gone with a L and it would've looked better on my flabby torso, but XL's provide my tees with the extra drap and longer sleeves. I guess it's more for comfort than style. I'll probably try a size L the next time I buy from them just to see what difference it really makes with fit. |

i love the feel/softness of bamboo fabrics, but in my experience they don't tend to wear very well...prematurely pilling or developing small holes.

The way I look at it, if you can find organic cotton tees made in usa at better than $13 a piece, you should buy them, because it's a great deal unless you don't agree with their company for whatever reason (say, American Apparel's forced modeling practices or whatever).

I only own the one bamboo blend tee above. the other recycled poly blend tees and organic tee I have have lasted for the past couple of years, but like any type of poly blend there's some pilling with the fabric. but, they're still super soft and comfortable. |

I just stocked up on tees, as it'll be sweltering hot in Atlanta any day now. I got a bunch of Alternative Apparel stuff. I like their stuff, with a few caveats.
1. They are made all over. Doesn't bother me necessarily on principle, but introduces some variance in fit and materials.
2. Pricing. Full retail on these seems really high, that said, some of their stuff I have is really great, others just OK.
3. Old vs new product line. Alternative changed over their product line a little while back. Good news is, I think point #1 above has been addressed somewhat. But, it's hard to know what's what when ordering from a third party.
To qualify the statements above, my first buy from these guys was from their bargain sale when they changed over the product line, subsequent buys were from Marshalls, TJ Maxx and were probably seconds. My recent buy from thedealrack.com appear to be mostly newer stock (newer style tags) and consistent quality, and more consistent fit.
Overall, I was previously ambivalent about the brand, which is well loved elsewhere, but now I am a fan. Fit and style is similar to the similarly named American Apparel. Alternative seems to have nicer fabrics in general.
Pricing at The Deal Rack is pretty great, I paid under $6 for just about all the stuff I got. The PE shirt and the Backstage are my favorites, and the PE fits slimmer and shorter overall than the rest.

Taylor Stitch basics are killer also, and probably fit better with the ethos around here. I have 2 of their pocket tees, and really like them.
