So is the IxI bright-id the same as the first IxI? I have seen some insane epic fades of the bright IXI but I got the old ones...theese: www.weargustin.com/store/93 And they doesnt seem to fade at all, or just get grey. I hemmed them and washed the leftover hem also and it didnt even change color...still looks black. . I was tempted on these and was looking for nice fades. You would think nice fades would be a given. If they are hard faders they should put that in the description. Maybe they thought they would too. How a denim fades is usually given in descriptions of most premium selvedge brands. Edit. Sounds like others IXI do fade. ? Maybe it was a different run and they react differently.

I haven't heard anyone describe the Bright ID as "black" nor I heard anyone say theirs aren't fading. Right now, my Bright's appear purple, with bright blue starting to peak through, barely

Didnt you click the link I posted?
This is an ixi that was run about January 2013. (link is from third run I believe)
It has a wax coating. I didnt know this, but since I needed a pair of blacks and kinda like wax coatings, and the fact it didnt change color in the machine mde me just wear them and develop a wax-shine.
Now im intereseted to know if its the same dye underneath. But dont seem like it.

I havent read it anywhere. But the link I posted is for the early run of the ixi and it has a "wax-like" coating. The jeans are almost as dark as black, and they do not bleed, and have developed a shine on the wear-spots, exactly like wax-coated jeans, but its not as smooth and leathery as Nudie, but its still there. There was also a mention of this on the G-board that people were unsatisfied because the jeans were black and had "some kind of wax-like finish". I am not that bummed about it, kina like it...but would like to know whats underneath. Usually it takes 3-5 washes to get rid of the caoting to be able to start develop fades. I am a little torn here tho bc they might not fade as cool as the briht id. Well, not much help here since I seem to know alot more about them then you....but keep your eyes peeled and report if you stumble over anything.

hmmm. well, I just checked the tag on my IxI and it looks like I actually have a different IxI than yours. I have the Japan IxI; www.weargustin.com/store/496so I don't know about your IxI but I assumed they would behave the same as they appear to be nearly identical IMO, other than the ID. Mine definitely don't have a wax coating and they bleed like crazy.

Yeah I can see its a different jean on the picture. Im hypothesising that G took a beating from the crowd of the first run and then switch fabric without connecting the 2 or making a statement. If they have, I have missed it. What adds to my idea is the comparison with the black to safeguard against the angry mob Oh well. I just gotta get this shine going

You guys should post this bit of contemporary denim sleuthing over at you-know-where. I bet it would be a real hit.

Since im swedish I had to look that up. Didnt really help: [kuh n-tem-puh-rer-ee] adjective 2. of about the same age or date: a Georgian table with a contemporary wig stand. sleuth Line breaks: sleuth Pronunciation: /sluːθ verb [no object] (often as noun sleuthing) Back to top 1Carry out a search or investigation in the manner of a detective: scientists began their genetic sleuthing for honey mushrooms four years ago

Griffin, it's a thinly-veiled cheap shot at another denim discussion forum where, in the view of many of the members here, many of the members there take the subject of historical denim research (and themselves) more than a bit too seriously.

Raw Umbers..... About 4 months, 2 hot washes with machine dry both times I use wire hangers for my babied jeans/pants but bend the top wire to create a lil resting spot for the belt loops to avoid them slipping off. I am sure many of u have better options but its a good way to save some cash & gets some use out of a otherwise terrible hanger for shirts

Or UnTucked just thinks he's got browns and someone's been fleecing him this whole time.

Downtown Browns. I like them more than I expected. Worn with Aero Shackleton vest/waistcoat, Amber Harness IRs and an RRL shirt.
