but yes, that is why I brought up the question of what the weight of the Freenote flannel is. If it's a 12 oz flannel then yeah, not really overpriced. If it's an 8 oz(ish) flannel or less then IMO it's overpriced. I think everyone here knows, the heavier a fabric the more expensive it is. Tell that to Loro Piana

Not familiar with the brand, but just took a look based on this thread. That Mackinaw jacket is bolder than I'd normally wear, but is pretty sweet.

It's not the price so much as the entire 180 on Iron Heart. You thought they were ridiculous until you got them and now it's your favoritest brand in the whole world. "Don't get to use this argument anymore" is a bit harsh, and clearly you can do whatever the f!@k you want, I'm not gonna try to stop you, but you're using the exact argument you used against Iron Heart for so long. The irony is not lost on this side of the internets. Ahhh come on guy (southpark movie reference...anyone??) I never knew people would have such a hard on about someone changing their opinion on a certain brand. Forgive me if I was not born with the knowledge of everything clothing related and that I had to actually learn things over time through research on the interwebs and good old fashioned "field work". Forgive me if I have actually changed my opinion about a brand once I actually received an article of their clothing. Trust me, when it comes to Iron Heart I can assure you I am not the only one who has done so.
So freakin what man? I thought IH was a rip off before I had any of their products and now that I have learned a lot about clothing over the years and have their products in hand I've evolved and can appreciate what it is and I now see the value in that brand. Also, I will say it one more time, you may be forgetting (or just not reading it the many times I've posted it) I have bought the majority of my IH gear off of Rakuten not from IHUK which also led to my changing opinion. I wasn't aware of Rakuten pricing one year ago.
I'm tired of talking about this.
i'M NOT YOUR GUY, FRIEND! I'm just giving you a hard time, I understand what happened with the Iron Heart business, I just thought it funny that you would use the same argument again. Anyway, I'm gonna get back to my Canadian ABC's.

Our appreciation & knowledge evolves...imo, many members here are v. knowledgeable & well-informed - certainly, ickes loves quality & has very wide knowledge. GREAT guy to work with - the mods here are gold...anyhow, just feel that all denimheads owe some respect/recognition to IH for raising the bar, setting a high standard and maintaining that standard. I have 7 IH shirts - probably enough - but they're all great shirts (5 Rakuten, 2 IHUK). For me, IH are one of the great denim brands.

Their flannels are light weight. I got the red one and it's probably 5oz.

And weight isn't everything. IMO iron heart stuff looks kinda frumpy. Cut, style, material and country of manufacture all matter in their own way.

Honestly all their stuff looks overpriced to me for what it is. Although they don't have the weight listed on their flannels so Im curious to know how heavy they are Perhaps, but i don't own any incredibly expensive shirts to compare them to. I like some of the Freenote stuff because of the styling and because they're US made. Price & value will always be subjective

The best comparison I could make would be to Momotaro. I have the green tea dye chambray. Both are light weight, good cut and style, sewing is impeccable.

Shelton Lancaster flannel Ok, nerds. I think i've dialed in my size but am undecided on which of the above shirts I want. I like both a lot but can only get one. I'm leaning towards the Lancaster because it's slightly cheaper and it's flannel but I also like the detailing on the Shelton. Which of these shirts do you like better?

If I were choosing between the two I would get the plaid as I don't like the "my t-shirt is sticking out" gussets and the additional arm seam of the denim.

yeah, the white on the gusset is an odd choice. It would've looked much better if they simply used the same fabric. I still don't know what weight the Lancaster flannel is. Guess it doesn't matter much since winter is coming and i'll be layering anyways

lol. I don't know what purpose the little pockets serve but I like the stitch detail because i've never seen it before.

For denim, the Taylor Stitch is much cooler for half the price.
For flannel, the 3 Sixteen is much cooler for a few sheckels less.
Freenote seems caught between repro workwear and high fashion. And not a good sort of caught either.

The flannel is probably about 5-6 oz. I wear a slim large in gustin and 42 in TS. I buy large in Freenote Cloth

And not a good sort of caught either. Their stuff is hit and miss style wise (like most brands) but more hit than miss lately. They have a lot more details than brands like TS or gustin, like burnt horn, bone and leather-backed metal buttons, lined pockets, chain stitch run off, etc. their fabrics are unique or used by very few brands. Overall I think they are moving in the right direction and their quality is top notch. If you can get them, I highly recommend the indigo houndstooth workers jacket and the rail stripe shirt. My two favorite pieces of clothing at the moment. I'm considering the denim riders jacket too but it might be a little too rock and roll for me.

Their overall dierction is promising, but some of their recent drops are a little weak.

By the way, there is a new shirt out that is similar to the railstripe called the lambert. It's $80 cheaper too.

I would definitely go with the lambert over the flannel. I'm thinking about selling mine and getting a 3sixteen instead.
