I do like that this is longer than most truckers. That's my biggest pet peeve. The shortness of denim jackets. It looks terrible imo.

but to add to the denim tuxedo look debate, I think it's fine (for me anyways) so long as the denim fabric isn't matchy-matchy like the pic of Aaron Rogers. If there's some contrast between the 2 denims then it helps to break the monotony of similar fabrics. I think it would vary from outfit to outfit. I can understand why you would hesitate wearing a shadow selvedge type 3 with a pair of shadow selvedge jeans, but, it could work if the shirt you were wearing was a contrasting color, like red, and of course if you were wearing brown/red-ish boots. it can be done but I personally would feel pretty stupid trying to pull that off.
I know my PBJ deep indigo type 2 would work with all of my jeans, with the exception of my shadow selvedge because they both are saturated with indigo.

I'm looking to pick up a denim jacket this spring. Thinking a type 3 with hand warmer pockets. The 3sixteen is towards the top of the list. What are some other contenders?

Not technically a type 3 jacket, but I really like my supply jacket from Rogue Territory. I'm not a huge fan of all the pockets covering the front of most trucker jackets, and this one has a slightly different take on it. Not for everyone, but I like it.

I have tried that one on a few times, but decided against it. I'm sort of in between sizes and didn't love it.

Not a type 3 but the new BOWxMomotaro type 2 collab has hand warmer pockets. It's black though and runs $395. Japan Blue just released a black type 3 via Okayama Denim I think which is around $175. I'd go with 3sixteen personally since their type 3 is different from all the other type 3's on the market

I love wearing denim on denim. I got a Levi's light wash to go with my darker jeans this past fall. Will definitely be improving that this fall with either a Samurai or Oni type III.
It's a look that requires confidence I think. If you feel iffy wearing it, it just won't work for you.

I thought a type III with pockets was absolutely needed, but with wear I find myself never even using them except for the occasional truck key storage. Tellason may have pockets, I know N&F typically doesn't. I haven't looked too much into the Japanese offerings besides appearance and sizing.

Fresh dark vs slightly faded I thinks fine. I like it and wear it a decent amount.

That Bravestar jacket looks pretty solid, specially for the price. Have not been able to find much information about it though, was hoping to see a couple fit pics. The Company does not offer refunds, only exchanges.

I just picked up the Ironside Type 3 in the 13.5 Cone brown weft denim. I have the potential of a near-tux if paired up with my American Antique from G. I will say this jacket bleeds a little more and is already showing character. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and probably get about 3 wears in per week (in AZ). I was hesitant at first because of length since they all seem to run short but this jacket coming in at 25 on the medium is perfect. Not too long and definitely not oddly short if worn with a shirt untucked. I've paired it up with my really faded denim (Gs I've had the longest) and even some newer denims that don't have the brown weft but definitely have some character in the grain. No one has mentioned the Canadian tux at all (at least not directly). I also pair it up with IndigoxIndigo, and all the nonstandard selvedge in my closet. But it probably gets paired up with my TS chinos the most. I almost got the Steadfast because I thought it was the only one offering the brown weft Cone, but Mik confirmed it's available for both. When I need another one, I may ask Mik for a Steadfast in the Cone 14.25 or 15oz denims. Both have enough character that would be different than the current one I have.

I'm in the same boat, considering the 3Sixteen myself this spring or maybe fall. The Freenote Rider jacket is right at the top of my list too.

I've really taken a shine to type 2's, mainly because I love my PBJ type 2 but also because I see so many out there from OD and Denimio that look really good. The only ones I've avoided are the ones with back pleats, which are too distracting to me since type 2's have enough pleating in the front.
So far I dig Japan Blue's JBJK1012 16.75oz type 2 and the Oni type 2, both via OD. Their measurements work for me but the only drawback I see with the Oni type 2 is that I think it's made from an Oxford cloth rather than a standard denim. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to Oxford cloth but I imagine it isn't as stiff as denim. Are there any cons to Oxford cloth compared to denim? I'm leaning heavily towards the JB type 2 because it's a heavyweight denim but the Indigo Oni is tempting too

Just saw the Momotaro MJ2103 type II jacket. No battle stripes, and it has tapered sleeves for a nice silhouette. Measurements seem spot on for me as well. This will be my next jacket I think.

That's the one and only complaint I have about Momotaro...those damned battle stripes. I know it's part of their brand but I find them incredibly tacky. Other than that, I really dig the MomotaroxBOW collab, but I greatly prefer the indigo version they did last year.

I wear a lawless type 3 jacket, contrast stiching with matching dark jeans almost every day. Every know and then I get accused of dressing like a "toddler" but I love it. If the jeans are worn in, that provides enough contrast.
